On Thursday 22nd October Prestige Network had a special guest attend their monthly Interpreter virtual social session over Zoom.

David Wolfenden has been practicing as a Registered British Sign Language Interpreter for over 35 years. He has experience of working with deaf people in legal, television, media and theatre, immigration, community, education, health and mental health sectors. He is a qualified supervisor, mentor, trainer and assessor in British Sign Language.

We offered him a slot in our session to speak to our team of Interpreters about what type of emotional, reflective and wellbeing support is offered to Interpreters in the UK, particularly during these lock-down and restrictive times.

David provides supervision and support to a wide variety of interpreter practitioners in the UK and Europe. The session looked at what makes spoken and signed language interpreters the same, and what makes them different; the rules that we follow; what makes us professional; and the benefits of Reflective Practice.

David hosts individual and group reflective workshop sessions over Zoom. He is offering a 50% discount for Prestige Network Interpreters to attend his sessions on the following dates:

  • November 27th
  • December 18th
  • January 29th

You can find out further information on his website.
