Navigating the Recruitment Challenges.

In 2022, recruitment problems were at record levels as three out of four companies struggled to hire staff in the UK, according to the British Chambers of Commerce. The construction sector faced the biggest challenge, followed by production, manufacturing, and hospitality industries. UK manufacturing companies have already been forced to cut jobs and production because of soaring energy costs.

The opportunity to hire overseas workers through agencies is a way to deal with labour shortages, but can create their own challenges for HR and Training. Whether it’s recruiting a high volume of workers for seasonal work or hiring a senior level executive from overseas, Specialist schemes are in place to help UK businesses recruit and this in turn this creates the challenge of having effective communication across multiple languages.

Once you have onboarded your staff, your employees may need support understanding English,  there are a number of ways Prestige Network can support you in communicating with them to encourage their involvement from Day 1. The aim is to achieve the same standard of understanding and involvement as for an English employee, and create a great workforce…. A great Team!

The need for effective communication in multi-language, multi-cultural teams cannot be underestimated – without it you risk alienating and demotivating employees and may struggle with employee retention.

This is where Prestige Network can help you

  • Encourage employees by using professional interpreters. This can be using telephone, video or on-site.
  • Get information translated into their native language and check that this has been done clearly and accurately by testing it with native speakers.
  • Use pictorial information and internationally understood pictorial signs where appropriate
  • Committees and representatives should reflect the workforce they represent.
  • Translation of Induction and Training materials from English to native languages will help communication in the training room, workplace and on health and safety.
  • Training materials can be translated and form part of a blended learning programme using video, audio and written content.

In Addition to Training Materials we can support HR onboard your staff.
