At Prestige Network, we are dedicated to enhancing accessibility and communication for all. Recently, we had the opportunity to partner with Student Services at Birmingham University to support Deaf students. We caught up with Lucy, a final year student, to hear about the impact our British Sign Language (BSL) interpreting services have had on her university experience.

Lucy started working with Prestige Network about four months ago, having previously used a different interpreting agency. She immediately noticed a significant improvement in the level of service she received from us. “They really raised the bar,” she said, highlighting the enhanced quality of our services compared to her previous experiences.

One of the key factors that stood out to Lucy was the excellent customer service provided by Meryem at Prestige Network. “Meryem always responded to my emails quickly and was very accommodating,” Lucy shared. She explained that her timetable often caused her anxiety due to its late release and frequent last-minute changes. Despite these challenges, Prestige Network’s ability to adapt and manage these changes impressed her greatly.

Lucy recalled a particularly stressful situation where an interpreter fell ill and couldn’t attend her next class. She had resigned herself to relying on lipreading, live captioning, and notes from her notetaker. However, to her surprise and relief, Meryem managed to arrange a replacement interpreter with only a weekend’s notice. “I was shocked, relieved, and so happy with the service that Prestige Network provided,” Lucy remarked.

Switching to Prestige Network has dramatically improved Lucy’s university experience. She expressed her satisfaction and happiness with the decision to switch, emphasizing the positive impact it has had on her academic journey.

We are thrilled to have made a difference in Lucy’s life and are committed to continuing to provide high-quality BSL interpreting services to support Deaf students. At Prestige Network, we believe in breaking down communication barriers and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
