Prestige Network made a one-off donation to Spotlight UK – a local charity who started out by providing free and low-cost activities for young people in Basingstoke, helping them increase confidence and self-esteem. It wasn’t long before the vision grew and founder Michaela could look to expand.
In addition to fun activities for young people, they also provide emotional and practical support where needed – a crucial aspect of supporting mentally healthy youngsters.
The money we donated covered the cost for a group of ten children to take part in a 2 hour paddleboarding session.
Spotlight UK said “The children had an absolute ball. It was so nice to see them smile and enjoy the sessions. Many of the young people have experienced trauma including domestic abuse, or loss or separation, or are young carers, or young people affected by mental health or disability whether that is them personally or who have a family member with mental health issues or disability and this enabled them to have some fun respite and helped to create new positive memories. Our view is that we cannot take away the past but can create new positive memories.”
