Solent University is a comprehensive university offering programmes across five academic faculties, including the Faculty of Business, Law and Digital Technologies.
Solent’s maritime courses have been ranked among the best in the world.
The conference was part of a wider initiative named Project Pegaseas, funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Prestige Network was approached by Solent University and asked to provide simultaneous interpreting from English into French for a full day conference in a theatre-style setting.
Support was also required for breakout sessions, where smaller groups of delegates required conventional interpreting and chuchotage.
Our task was to provide interpreting support for over 20 English and French universities, marine organisations. As well as local and central government representatives.
Because of the subjects under discussion, including management and use of data, marine ecosystems, citizen and stakeholder engagement, pressure and activity on the marine environment and Channel governance, it was important that the interpreters had relevant subject knowledge.
