Translation – Frequently Asked Questions
A translation memory is a database that stores a document and its translation in corresponding segments. It increases efficiency while translating as it reuses previously translated segments in new documents for translation.
All our translators are professionally qualified, registered and experienced. They are native speakers based both in the UK and overseas, who are culturally and professionally up-to-date. We will select from our bank of linguists an individual that has experience and/or qualifications in your specific subject matter, leading to a better understanding of your content, thus leading to a more accurate and stylistic translation for you.

After receiving your translation you have five days during which you can raise issues or concerns regarding the quality of your translation. In such a case we can review the translation and re-work anything we feel does not meet our high level of standards. Please note that if you request amendments that are not due to mistakes on our part, and are preferential, charges may be applicable.
Prestige Network will produce a certifying letter confirming that the translation is a true and accurate representation of the original source document provided, and can be used as an official document in the UK. The certifying letter and the translated document will be stamped with our company stamp, the Association of Translation Companies stamp (approved by the Home Office) and signed by the dedicated project manager. The certified documents will be posted to you by recorded delivery free of charge, or can be sent by next day delivery at an additional fee. We can also scan the certified documents and email them to you if required.
Individually identifiable information about you or other information/data disclosed to Prestige is not disclosed to any third party without first receiving your permission. Any information, data, documents, etc. that we have been entrusted with will remain completely confidential and never stored on an online server. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.
The majority of requirements are quoted based on word count, document technicality and urgency. With regard to certificates, the quote is calculated on the amount of pages and whether you need a sworn translator or notarisation.
It depends on the urgency. If you need us to deliver sooner than our standard turnaround times there will be a surcharge of usually 20%.
It is vital that you provide us with as much information as possible in order to ensure that we have the best possible understanding of your requirements, and therefore deliver your translation completed to the highest possible standard.

- Background information on your company and/or product
- Subject matter
- Purpose of the translation
- Target audience and document end use
- Deadline requirements
- Delivery format requirements
- Source document format
- Additional requests
There are several ways you can send your documents to us. The most common are: email (file size permitting), uploading them to our, or your FTP site, sending them to us on a memory stick, utilising secure file transfer software. There are of course various other ways also. You may prefer us to access your environment to download the source documents. We can discuss all options and we will work whatever way you deem to be the best for you.
We can work with pretty much any file format, however, we prefer to work with the source formats wherever possible (most commonly any MS Office format is available). The reason for this it we can ensure non-restricted access to your document in order to carry out the required service to best quality and with maximum efficiency. If source formats are not available we will accept various formats such as PDF. For scanned or hand written document, there may be a surcharge and their lack of workability may have an impact on the turnaround times.
For businesses we are be happy to complete a test translation of up to 300 words. We ask you to provide us with a piece of text to translate rather than send you a sample of our work, due to our strict client confidentiality. It is important to note that a test piece is a test of quality and not turnaround time.
This will depend on how large and technical the document is. Standard linguist capacity is around 2500 words per day. This may vary depending on the technical complexity of the document.
We always aim to deliver the completed translated document looking the same as the document provided for translation, unless otherwise requested. In order to do this we may need to involve other chargeable services such as Desk Top Publishing (DTP). These options should be discussed at project requirement stage.
Businesses will need to pay a deposit (amount to be discussed).

Your order will be appointed to a dedicated personal project manager, who will assign your documents to the most suitable translator(s). He/she can keep you updated on the progress of your project if requested, and you will then receive your translation within the agreed time frame and in the format requested by you.
