*Generally, the use of the word ‘Deaf’ (with a capital ‘D’) refers to a person whose preferred language is BSL whereas ‘deaf’ (with a lowercase ‘d’) refers to any person with a significant hearing loss.

British Sign Language/English Interpreting
British Sign Language (BSL) is one of the 300+ languages that Prestige Network caters for to bridge the gap of communication between people.
It is a language in its own right and was officially recognised as a language by the UK government on 18th March 2003. However, as it does not have any legal protection Deaf people do not have full access to information and services that hearing people take for granted, including education, health and employment.
Prestige Network is, therefore, enthusiastic in providing British Sign Language/English Interpreters which ultimately can assist in bringing years of language discrimination to an end.
Prestige Network works only with qualified and/or registered British Sign Language/English Interpreters. Our interpreters are required to meet certain standards in both English and British Sign Language, in addition to having undertaken (or be in the process of undertaking) interpreting qualifications. All our interpreters adhere to a code of ethics - they must conduct themselves professionally and impartially during their assignments, and ensure that all the work they undertake will remain confidential.
